As some of you know, I had to acquire an office-mate some time ago since I needed editing help. For the most part she's a very nice woman and I do appreciate the help. I certainly would be working ALL weekend, instead of just 1 day this weekend, if it weren't for her. So good. But sometimes she drives me nuts. And today I'm just not handling her well. Here are some of the fun things she does/says that I can't stand.
~She gets in 2 hours after I do, cause I'm more of an early bird. And she always wants to do start-of-the-day chit-chat. Guess what, I've been here 2 hours and am deeply engrossed in my work. Unless we need to discuss something work related, your chit-chat can wait until lunch when I'm ready for a break.
~I'm super cold, she's super hot. So I leave the AC off until she comes in. But I totally get that she wants to turn it on a bit when she gets in. It's become the routine. I put on my sweater and all is fine. She feels, however, that she needs to explain, every day, why she's turning the AC on. Duh! You're hot! It's summer! Just do it. I don't need an explanation. Seriously, every day. And as I said, I'm already working so this is just a stupid, unnecessary distraction.
"Oh hot flashes today."
"Let's just get some air goin' in here."
"Wow, it's stuffy."
~Talks about her son. Not a bad thing, really. I'm glad she's a proud mom. But I hear the same stories over and over again. Like...get some new material. I already know that he loves getting the comics from you. I heard it every Monday. EVERY MONDAY. "Oh he was just so happy to get the comics again. They all pass them around and share them" (he's in marine training so they do love outside stuff). Again. Every week.
~Complains about the weather. I've already heard "Oh what dreary weather" and "I wish the sun would just peek out for a little bit" 3 or 4 times today. It's been sunny for days. We need rain. Just sit back and chill out.
Someone come save me.
EDIT: The sun has indeed come out twice since I posted, both for...I don't know, 2 minutes. And BOTH times she's gone "Oh there's the sun!" Ugh. It's a rainy day, just get over it all ready. The sun will be back for real tomorrow.
