St. Louis Day 2 (and 3) - Graduation

So the real reason for visiting home was Evan's high school graduation! It was downtown at the Peabody Opera House. Here are some highlights from the day.

Three teenage boys are worse than teenage girls, if graduation morning was any indication. Of course I never had sisters to share clothes with or fight over mirror time. So I don't really understand the dynamic. But gosh. These 3? Fought over who stole whose tie. And who had the iron last. And who needed what kind of toothpaste. And why are my pants in your room when I put them up so they wouldn't get covered in dog hair. It was exhausting. I was ready in 20 minutes and they were still fighting over who ties the better double Windsor. There was tie know you tubing and last minute steaming of pants (b/c the iron was missing). And they say girls are high maintenance? No. Way.

My mom in all her stubbornness refused to take the elevator. Mom, you have trouble walking, don't go up to the top level of an opera house on foot. It's ok, my grandparents did the same thing. And came down via stairs too. So impatient, those guys.

We got kicked out of our seats and I almost got into a fight with the usher. But then we ended up back in our seats. The section that wasn't open because they weren't expecting that many people? Completely full 15 minutes later.

One guy ended his speech by having the entire graduating class sing "You've got a friend in me" (from toy Story. 278 18yr old guys. It was absolutely amazing.

Afterwards we had dinner at Kobe and the teens put me to shame with how much food they can consume. Oh and I have my brother a sip of my drink and pissed off his father. Hell, I would have given him a full beer if we were at home...and if he didn't have to take a breathalyzer at the lock-in that night.

We took a selfie waiting for the elevator...because I can totally hand with the young hip kids still.

My babies are growing up too fast!

Day 3 there's not much to tell about so it doesn't get it's own post. I founght with teenagers about getting out and having fun, then just went to the ren fair with Mom and Julie. We weren't there very long before the skies opening and we got drenched. I was kind of sad that I know find the MD ren faire much better. Then we had family time until I had to catch my flight back to MD - which was thankfully without difficulty.

St. Louis Day 1 - Brunch and Beer

Busy at work and busy social life = behind on blogging. Eek.

So Day 1 in St. Louis was a day late and I had to make up for lost time. First up, brunch and beer with Julie. There was boy talk and gouda...then there was beer. Urban Chestnut has apparently been around, but a beer loving friend told me about it. They were in an article about up-and-coming craft breweries, so I had to check it out. I found two I liked but of course those were not available in bottles, so I had to go with my third favorite. Beer wasn't enough, so we then headed for ice cream martinis. So much yum.

After Julie time I had to run home. Evan had Baccalaureate Dinner, so I was left with Connor and Harrison. We headed to Creve Coeur Lake for some canoeing. I got to sit back and relax while they rowed me around. And there was no tipping over.
