Fall in Shenandoah

It was a relaxing, quiet weekend in Shenandoah so not much to say, but highlights:
~Since John hiked the AT through most of the park he now has some favorite parts. he was kind of scary excited about taking me to this one view point, just 1.5 miles off skyline Drive. His excitement made me grin.
~It dropped down to about 30 Friday night. I'm so glad I have such a warm sleeping bag for these occasions. Makes it hard to get up in the morning, but I love feeling cozy.
~ Our friends were camping with their family a few sites up from us so we saw them some. Their kid and I goofed around in our tent, which is was so excited about exploring, and the result was both of us in controllable laughter and the other adults not knowing quiet what to do to make it stop. Little Jon = adorable!
~I was tricked by my trail book. We decided to do a short 5.5 mile hike, since John's excursion had already taken us 2.5-3. 8 miles is enough for one day. Well, it went to the top of the mountain....or so we thought. Most of the hike was just through the woods, which were pretty not not the mountain viewpoint I was going for. Well we know there's about 2 miles left and we're going uphill, so I was excited to be near the top. No, the "top" was a split - 2 miles to our campsite or 2.5 miles to the peak. I was not about to turn my last 2 miles into 6 (2 up, 2 down, 2 to campsite) so we just went back. I'm sure we could have done it but I was done for the day.
