Last weekend included a little hike at Rocks State Park. It was completely last minute. Was invited to climb but just didn't have the time to devote all day and wasn't sure where my energy level was. Life's been full and exciting, but it can leave you drained by Sunday. So we picked a short (4 mile) trial....to be followed by a 1 mile trek to the waterfall.
Of course I'd been to the King and Queen's seat before, once a while back before I started climbing. John and some old friends of ours tested out the rocks. We scrambled around a bit this time but no ropes or real climbing. There's only a few routes so not always worth the set up. Anyway, the hike was good but a lot of up hill. I sound like a dying cat when I go up hill. I blame the back....it's awful. I will keep hiking but it's no wonder people worry about me. So yeah, 2 strenuous miles and 2 easy. Not a bad time.
Oh we got turned around a few times because the trails went every which way...and all like lopped around themselves. I think Maryland needs a lessons in trail mapping. Luckily my sense of direction isn't too bad.
We drove a few minutes over to the falls, did some more scrambling and some river crossing. Waved to Rob (hi Rob!) and then pigged out on wings. So overall, a beautiful outside day.
