I finally got back to some outside climbing last weekend. Friends were out the two weekends before but I had work and other stuff going on so I had to skip out. There are a few places out here where people can come and go as they please because the climbing areas aren't big or hard to find. So getting to your group is no big deal. Other areas require a little more of an approach and you never can tell where you'll end up, so just meeting up with a group 2 hours after they arrive can mean you wander around the woods for a bit. And that has not sounded appealing. So this weekend was purposefully at an easy location that I've been to plenty of times so I went about 2 hours after everyone else arrived and found them without problem. Yay!
Most of the climbs we did were pretty easy. EASY! Who would have ever thought I could keep up with the big boys? Well, not completely, but close. My biggest problem is this area has very few good hands. You just have to trust your feet and mainly use hands for balance. Not my strongest skill. So I failed a 5.8. Otherwise, it was good. Found a crack I love. Slipped off some super slick feet. Got a little pink on my face. Yep, awesome day.
