Schlafly Comes to Washington

It's D.C. Beer Week!! Get excited. Actually, I'll be more excited about Baltimore Beer Week, because it's so much easier. But I had to explore at least something in D.C. When I discovered a St. Louis brewery was doing a tap takeover, I had to go. Schlafly is one of the better know craft breweries in STL, and it loves to help me prove that Busch/Bud is not all we have to offer out there. People tend to know the IPAs since they're widely available, but some others are fun to discover at events like this. Oh, it was also a BBQ place, so they had St. Louis ribs and pulled pork with sauces made with Schlafly beer. Ribs ended up a little dry, but the sauce was good.

Best part of the night was the very first keg of Schlafly's Pumpkin Beer, my second favorite pumpkin out there. (well, maybe 3rd...I recently had an amazing homebrew pumpkin). Anyway, second only to Dogfish, but I don't know, last night. Fresh off the tap. It was phenomenal.

I also had the Schlafly Quadrupel. The beer guys I was with found it shameful I'd never had a "quad" but such is life. This one made me an instant fan. If you happen across it, do try. High alcohol content (12%) but a 4ox pour was just the right sipping beer. http://schlafly.com/beers/styles/quadrupel/
