Asheville, NC part 2

As I said before, John and I were kind of lazy (for us) on this trip. so there's not a ton to report other than the mountains are amazing.

We spent most of one day just driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was similar to Skyline Drive in Shenandoah, but still worthwhile to see new mountains. We wanted to do a few side hikes, but the fog and some rain rolled in so we didn't keep driving to the one waterfall hike I really wanted to do. We did drive up to Mount Mitchell, though, even if we were too lazy to do the 6 mile strenuous hike.

We also decided to visit the Cherokee casino and let John connect with his roots. He was sad to see that reservations are not very glamorous. And the casino was all slots, no table games, so we just lost. I was excited for Paula dean's restaurant, but the food was not that great. But on the way home, more mountains. We managed to enjoy sunset on the Parkway, which was well worth the extra hour and a half it took to get home due to the mountain roads. I was a little freaked out at one point as the sun was setting and the fog rolled in so heavy that I was going about 5 mph. Luckily it didn't last long. Then I had to drive down a very steep and curvy road to get back to a main highway.
