I'm telling you, I cannot go to Pennsylvania without it raining. Or snowing. It's just never going to happen. Luckily this trip was not a complete wash. J. and I took off on Friday for a week-early Memorial Day as we were both potentially working the holiday weekend. Of course they were calling for torrential downpours and flooding all day Friday. And it certainly rained a lot. But go us - by the time we got to the campground it had stopped! So we had a nice afternoon/evening of campfire sitting. And then it rained again off and on during the night.
Saturday when we woke up it was 40 degrees! Highs in the 70s was the prediction, but I don't think it ever got about 62. Mountains are tricky like that. So we bundled up, had some coffee, and found the trail so we could try to warm up. Seriously, I was wearing gloves! In May! I'm cold just thinking about it. Ricketts Glen is one of those places everyone talks about. There's 24 named waterfalls in the park. So the 7.5 mile trail was just fantastic. A lot of uphill but not too terrible when you stop every so often to check out a new waterfall.
The evening was equally campfire awesome. But Sunday was a bust as we were supposed to kayak at the lake there but 42 is far too cold to get out on the water. And sitting around hoping it would warm up was just not happened. Sad as it was gorgeous when we got back to Baltimore! PA weather hates us.
All in all, we still had a lovely weekend. How can you not when you have all of this water?!
