Why do women hate each other so much? Why can we not make friends who are truly happy for us when good things come around? I know there are good women friends around (Hi Julie!) but I seem to just find more and more than are jealous and mean and talk tons of shit behind your back. I want more girlfriends but not if I always have to edit what I tell them or wonder if they're saying bad things when I'm not around. And yes, this is kind of doing that same thing, talking behind their backs...but really...what is wrong with us?
1) New relationships are not competitions. If you're happy and your friend is happy...then just be happy! Don't have a contest on whose boyfriend said "I love you" first. It doesn't matter. Relationships go at their own pace and that's ok. Plus, saying I love you 2 weeks into a relationship doesn't make yours stronger than mine, it just makes yours scarier.
2) Yes, when a friend finds a guy to date she is not going to be available 24/7. That's the nature of relationships. Girls meet boys, get married, start families...and it's no longer the summer you turned 9 when you did nothing but ride bikes and listen to Celine Dion with the lights off, windows open, singing as loud as you could. As long as you're still making time for your girlfriends (and him his guy friends) then all is right with the world. So don't get pissed and make snide comments like Well, guess she won't be planning any events (meetup) now that she has this guy." Nope, you're right. No more meetups every single weekend. But there's still at least one a week. So chill. We're not even friends.
3) When I tell you I'll be ready to meet up at 7:30 or 8, I mean it. And I clarify that I'll be unable to text until I'm done at the gym, but it won't be any later than 7:30. So when I text at 7:30 and say "Ok,on my way, if 8 is still good?" don't complain to other girls that I didn't give you enough time to get ready. "I'm still sitting around in my bathrobe and she expects me to walk out the door?" Yep, see, when I make plans to be somewhere at "7:30 or 8" I am ready to walk out the door at 7....I don't wait around to get dressed until the actual meeting time.
