Cherry Blossom Parade

I avoid crowds as much as I can. Sometimes you'll get an event worth pushing your way around for. But a parade? I had zero interest. But it was the Cherry Blossom Parade and it was the ONLY day I had free to try and see the Cherry Blossoms down in D.C., something I've failed at every year since living here. And if I move away I'd regret never seeing them. Sure there are blossoms everywhere, but not like at the Tidal Basin.

Anyway, we got downtown early enough that we had a perfect spot on the street. Of course then a rude guy a foot taller then us kept encroaching...and a woman with a press pass decided we had the best view and got in front. Almost slapped a mom who felt that just because she had a kid she was entitled to sneak up front. Yep, the usual parade stuff.

The parade was.. a parade. Pretty fun for the first house. "I don't want to see one more marching band" for the second. And then...no one I was with wanted to walk the mile down to see the blossoms. Apparently we're too lazy to walk a mile?! I was pissed. But I had ridden with the most outspoken girl, so I couldn't just run off on my own. Stranded in D.C. did not sound like a good idea. So despite being within 1 mile of the wonderful trees, I still have not seen them. And now they're turning leafy. :(
