Kayaking Trip #1

John and I took our first kayak trip of the year this weekend (no pics as cameras hate water). We went to Mason Neck State Park, not too far from my house, and paddled around a bay that leads to the Potomac. It was in the 90s all weekend, so it was a nice day to be out on the water. The breeze kept it from being too hot, as did dripping myself with water. We were out for a few hours, but I wasn't sore the next day! Must be building some muscle from climbing after all.

We saw: a ton of blue herons, a possibly murderous beaver, and a fish having a seizure. Seriously, it was flopping all over in the middle of the bay. Pretty sure it was dying. I had a girl moment and wouldn't get too close because I was scared it was going to flop right into my boat. John investigating and we later decided it was a Black Drum Fish. Not a snakehead, thank goodness!

After being on the water we set up a hammock and lounged for a bit while reading. We didn't have good rope, so we fell to the ground when we tried to get in together. Luckily the rope would hold if only one of us got it.
