This weekend two things happened.
I shot a gun for the first time. Mother's day.
I still prefer the bow and arrow, but shooting is cool too. I wasn't too terrible either.
When we got home we hung the zombie target on the basement door to freak out my roommate when he came upstairs. He was a little freaked, but mostly awesomely amused. Joey, however, lost his shit. Dogs really don't like zombies.
On Mother's Day we arrived at John's parents' and there were no parents. Apparently they decided to spend a weekend with no kids or grand kids and went to the casino. It was sad to not spend the day with at least one mom, but I spent too long on the phone with mine later on.
Instead or hanging with family, John and I took a stroll along the Potomac. We did our usual hike stuff, which was to talk about life, love, and livers. Ok, maybe not livers. That's the first L-word that came to mind. You get it. We talked. Life was grand. Then there was grilling and my belly was happy.

Nice shootin', Tex! What did you use? :)
I don't know what kind of gun it was! I don't understand these things. A 9mm something? Baby gun for beginners, they don't let you rent the fancy stuff your first time.
I figured it was a 9mm. When Jamie and I went to the range for the first time, they gave us a little Glock to use. Definitely a good handgun to start with. You should see the revolver my father-in-law let me shoot a few weeks back. It nearly took off my hand just with the recoil, but it put a hole through a thick log, and you could see flames coming out of the end of the barrel. Definitely would be good against zombies.
I need something with little recoil, but fire is cool. You could see orange when you shot this too which was maybe the best part.
So should I assume the guns and bows and arrows are all practice for the zombie apocalypse?
Haha V - yes and no. It's mostly about trying new things, but making it about the zombie apocalypse is much more fun. It's like make believe! Unless of course it happens, in which case the boy will feel a lot better if I can shoot.
Hee! Yeah, if it ever comes down to that, I'll defintely be the protector. My guy hasn't a clue about guns, or bows and arrows.
