Happy Opening Day!

To all my fellow baseball fans, it is opening day! For the Orioles anyway, and my dearly beloved Cardinals. I don't know if every team has their opening day, today. But anyway...

I've never actually been to an opening day game. At least that I can remember. This, I feel, is something that needs to be remedied. Obviously not gonna happen this year as I am sitting here at the computer and not at a game. And I think I will have to make it a trip to STL for that, because they are the team that's really worth it. Now, I'm not saying that if someone gives me tickets for another team I'm gonna say no. I'll probably say yes. But if I specifically make opening day plans, it will be for the Cardinals.

I've been told many times that I don't seem like the baseball kind of girl. And maybe I don't. I don't play at all. It's merely an obsession with the Cardinals, which developed into a love of baseball in general because I am not always in a place where the Cards are on TV/playing live/I have access to any information at all.

I blame my father for this, as it was his idea to take me to my first Cardinals game when I was 2(or maybe it was 4) weeks old. I don't really like having this connection, as he is no longer in my life, but nonetheless I love my Cardinals.

I even wrote my senior thesis in undergrad about baseball. "Bimbos, Gold diggers, and Whores: The Women of Baseball Literature." It was a bit more academic than it sounds, but still funny. and amazingly awesome.

Right now, the Cardinals game is delayed because of rain. By boys are ahead 5-1, but are now sitting around doing nothing. They better let them continue. Oddly, they are playing Colorado. Not really a team I am invested in, but I love the state. And maybe, had I lived there longer, I would have started loving them more. Some day.

Ok, that's all I have. I must go work on my novel homework.

Go Cardinals!

(and Orioles!)

Well, the Orioles lost. But the Cards still have a chance. So, since I have no investment in this whatsoever, I'll cheer on St. Louis for your sake. :P
