Belize Part 2

One thing that was true throughout the trip was that after dark there wasn't much to do besides read and drink. So there were many early nights. Which meant early mornings. But we loved it because we made the most of every day. And when you wake up to an awesome sunrise you forget what time it is (if you had even checked the clock). We sat out on the dock and watched the sun come up on Day 2, which was the perfect start to vacation.

Since food at the resort was a little expensive we didn't want to eat every meal there, so we decided to check out the local grocery store. We rented some bikes and took off down the beach. The trip there was mostly awesome. The bikes were not the best condition so my arms actually hurt from having to steer so aggressively. Seeing as some of the uninhabited beach areas required dodging narrow passages through palm trees I was not about to just let the bike go wherever it wanted. Seriously, I nearly ran into quite a few palm trees.

But I survived! And there was much rejoicing at finding food. And there were igunas!

The ride home was slightly uphill and that was not as fun. Especially since it was later in the day and some of the sand that had been packed down and wet was now fluffy and not possible to ride through. Then John's chain broke. What should have been an easy fix was not so easy due to rust. Stupid rust!

Back at the resort we did what any hot, sweaty person would do: straight to the water. The afternoon was as you would expect, sun and rum.

Oh, and John massacred a coconut in our shower. Don't try to open a coconut without a machete. Just. Don't.

This picture best summarizes my time at the beach.

Must try the local brew, right? No. Just don't.

But, it's brewed in Ladyville! (something only John and I understand) So, respect Belikin. Respect.

This was the night of most drinking. There were even shots. And yet, life was so good you would have never known the next day.

And eventually, there was sunset.
