Government Shutdown

I have fun things to write about, as soon as work allows. Promise. For today, a rant that could have been. I'm too exhausted to actually pull it all together anymore. (facebook's been fun!)

Anyway, the republicans refuse to pass a budget without amendments to the healthcare law.

Democrats refuse to budge on the healthcare law.

Not just because I'm pretty liberal and hate on the (present day) republicans do I say: The healthcare law has already been fought. It's been voted on. You had your chance to battle and it's over. What's done is done. Using the budget to re-fight this is not the correct platform. You lost, republicans. Now stop holding things up and get us money.

So it's a horrible situation where they get to argue back and forth and the American people suffer.

And suffer we will, whether you are getting furloughed or not. So many people I've read don't seem to understand what a long shutdown can do to our economy. Seriously, we weren't doing great, but we were improving. This sets us back. And so many people are going to blame Obama when he's only part of the equation. And if you don't know what a shutdown costs, look seriously at everything they do.

Do you like roads?
Do you like fire departments?
Do you like any service provided by the govt?
Do you like the fact that it pumps money into everything?
Do you enjoy your family members in the military's salary retroactively being voted on by Congress?

Anyway, I'm still at work - for now. Even though I'm not Government, we are all gov. contracts so the company did furlough to fight the loss we're going to see from no work (not just now, but over the last few months when budget has been debated - no new work has been coming out of the government b/c the future funding was so uncertain). But I am lucky - again, for now - that I have work to do. As soon as these projects end, there's no saying what will happen. So we've all got our fingers crossed that this doesn't last past 2 weeks.

It's a LAW!
