There's Still Hope for America

I will still be nervous and jittery until the election is officially over, but I'm letting myself have some hope for America. Or rather, Americans.

I'll be honest, electing Bush twice really made me question whether some people should have the right to vote. It just blows my mind. But, I have realized over the last few days that there is reason to hope that some people can indeed change.

A person (who shall remain nameless) has been a McCain supporter throughout the election. And was a Bush supporter before, though couldn't vote then. We've always just disagreed on politics. Well, this person attended an Obama rally last week, basically because he was dragged by a friend. But, he was willing to listen to what the other side had to say. Said person has since done has much research as humanly possible (it seems) and is now almost 100% certain he will be voting for Obama tomorrow. We just talked for about an hour and it was the best political conversation we've ever had. Mainly because we weren't arguing, and he was actually open to hearing my opinions.

I was glad when he was just considering Obama. It's a big step. Even if he still voted the other way, I would have respected his decision because he really weighed his options. But hearing that he might actually jump ship on McCain, is just wonderful.

Bitmap Alphabet

This is one of my typography assignments-create your own bitmap alphabet. We only had to do the first 6 letters, thank goodness. I may have gone a little crazy doing any more. But, I must say, I like my cute little letters.

Palin's Sentences

I've been pretty quiet on the political front. At least, on my blog. Talking to me in real life is quite another story!

Anyway, if you didn't know, Sarah Palin makes me vomit. So, Diagramming Sarah was really funny.

Our crazy assignment for Typography this week was to research any letter of the alphabet and write something. After much deliberation, I decided M was the best-yes, mainly because of my name. But here's why Melissa should not be given such broad, and odd topics:

Don't do Drugs, Kids

I'm on a 6-day steroid treatment for my back this week and it sucks. It's basically 6 pills on day 1, 5 on day 2, and downward. So the first two days were a total shock of drugs. It was like I had taken speed. Or way to much caffeine. So even though I was exhausted after class on Wednesday, I couldn't get to sleep for awhile. Now, I'm taking less so I just have a headache (side effect) and can't take anything else for it as I'm already on drugs. But my heart is back to it's normal rate so I'm not dizzy. Yay!

This has just made me realize I would not make it doing any real drugs.

Anniversary

Yesterday was our 2nd anniversary. Yay! We didn't do anything special really, just sat around and chilled. No homework or computer games. It's not really in our style to go all crazy. We did go to the Melting Pot on Friday for dinner, which was very nice. I am since become obsessed with fondue. I'm thinking I need my own fondue pot (or two) for Christmas so I can have an elegant fondue party. Yes...

And of course, I have been terrible about carrying my new camera with me, so I have no pictures. But, for everyone out there who's sappy (like I can be) here's some pics from the last two years.

First Day of Autumn!

Happy First Day of Autumn!!

I realized today that there are some things you just can't escape. One in my life is that I will forever have certain things in my brain because my little brothers watched/listened to them over and over again. One of them Being Toy Story. I could probably recite that movie from start to finish. But on this first day of my favorite season, it's Winnie the Pooh that's in my head.

The glorious movie, Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin, CR goes to school for the first time. So, it's autumn at the beginning of the movie.

All day long I have had Winnie the Pooh in my head going "It's the first day of autumn! Christopher Robin! It's the first day of autumn! Let's jump into leaves!"

So, here's a little bit of this movie for all of you who need to experience the greatness that is Pooh Bear. It's right after Pooh goes all crazy about autumn. No one else seems to appreciate that part enough to put it on YouTube.
